Beetle Mania Hits Tayside Police

31-08-2005

Beetle mania is set to take off within Tayside Police today (31/08/05) when the Force receives a sponsored car from the Cameron Motor Group.

The Volkswagen Beetle, which is black with a black and white chequered stripe running across the car from front to back, will be used by Tayside Police Road Safety Officer Rachel Ewins.

Rachel covers the whole of the Perth and Kinross area visiting schools, community groups, and other businesses promoting road safety.

She said,

‘‘ I’m hoping that my Volkswagen Beetle doesn’t have a mind of its own like Herbie and I’m sure the car will be a great asset in promoting road safety across Perth and Kinross. I’m very grateful to the Cameron Motor Group for their sponsorship.’’

Douglas Cameron, owner of the Cameron Motor Group, added,

‘‘ We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Tayside Police road safety car. It is particularly important that children learn about road safety from an early age and I am pleased to lend my support to this valuable resource which will provide road safety training and awareness to groups throughout Perth and Kinross.’’

A special competition to give the Tayside Police ‘love bug’ a name is already underway with every primary school pupil in the Perth and Kinross area being given the chance to enter. The winner will receive a family pass to see the new Herbie movie courtesy of Caledonian Cinemas in Perth.
