The Board consists of 18 Councillors appointed from the membership of the
3 Councils as follows -
The Board shares responsibility for Tayside Police with the Chief Constable who is responsible for operational matters and with the Scottish Ministers. The Board is supported by a Clerk and Treasurer who give administrative support and professional advice. The Clerk and Treasurer are currently the Head of Law & Administration and the Head of Finance respectively of Angus Council. The Board meets four times a year with meetings rotating annually between Dundee, Forfar and Perth. In addition there is an Appointments Sub-Committee, an Audit Sub-Committee, a Complaints Sub-Committee, a Finance Sub-Committee and a Personnel Sub-Committee. Meetings, unless specified, are open to the public and the agenda and papers are available in advance. The Board has a number of statutory duties and responsibilities including -
