Tayside Police
Advice to Businesses

Protecting and assisting businesses in Perth & Kinross is as important as looking after the world leaders when they arrive in Perthshire.

Tayside Police officers are working closely with Perth & Kinross Council and the local community to minimise and manage any disruption, and address any concerns that residents and businesses may have.

While Tayside Police is putting a very broad range of contingencies in place and planning for all eventualities, this does not mean the force anticipates there being any large scale incidents of public disorder.

The force is committed to keeping local people up-to-date, and businesses in Perth, Auchterarder and surrounding areas may receive information on the policing operation for the G8 Summit through the VIP Informer system, which has previously been used for crime prevention.

More officers will be based in the force's Western Division Control Room over the Summit to respond to any additional demand during the event. Crime prevention officers are also available to provide advice prior to the word leaders meeting in Perthshire from July 6-8.

The force is encouraging businesses to
  • Consider staffing arrangements
  • Review security arrangements
  • Ensure CCTV systems are working well
  • Review emergency procedures
  • Ensure key holder details are up-to-date
  • Think about contingencies
The latest police news and advice will be posted on this website over the G8 Summit.

During the event, anyone with questions, queries or concerns, or information which would be of assistance to police officers should telephone 01738 621141.

In an emergency dial 999.

For crime prevention information and advice prior to the G8 Summit, businesses can contact Constables Donald Campbell or Ian Campbell on 01738 892937.
